Choose white vinyl when you want your colours to look the same on any container, and choose clear when you want the container itself to show through, such as a 'no label' look on a glass jar or bottle. The choice is mostly about what sits behind the label, not about quality.
How they differ in practice
- White vinyl gives the artwork a solid base. A dark container, a printed box or a coloured lid does not change how the design reads.
- Clear lets whatever is behind the label show through. On a clear glass jar of honey or a bottle of oil, only the printed parts appear to float on the glass.
- Paper is the third option in our catalogue: a natural, matte surface that suits dry products and boxes. See Waterproof Stickers vs. Paper Labels: What's Worth Paying For for when paper is the better choice.
Contrast and readability
A clear label has no background of its own, so readability depends on what is behind it. Dark text on a light or empty container reads well. Light text on a clear label over a dark product can disappear. If your design relies on pale colours, white vinyl is the safer starting point. Whatever you choose, the digital proof we send before printing is the moment to check legibility, because we can show it against your artwork but not against your actual container.
Check the container first
Hold a sheet of plain paper behind the area where the label will sit, then take it away. The difference is what your customer will see with a clear label. If the content behind the label is uneven, such as a liquid line, a seam or a product with air bubbles, a solid white label will look neater.
What the price list says
On our price list, clear and paper are priced the same at a given size and quantity, and white vinyl costs more. For example, a 4 × 3 inch rectangle at 100 pieces is Rs. 1,800 in clear or paper and Rs. 2,700 in vinyl. Prices change with size and quantity, so use the sticker price calculator at Sticker Price Calculator to compare the three for your own size.
Printing limits to ask about
Printing on clear material has limits that printing on white does not, for example how strongly light colours show over a dark background. If your design has large light-coloured areas or fine white text, tell us on WhatsApp before you order and we will explain what to expect and show you on the proof.
